Gerhard Fieldhouse Improvements :: 30-Year-Old Facility to Receive New Floor, Paint Job this Summer

Bucknell's Gerhard Fieldhouse, which was completed in 1978, will be undergoing a facelift this summer as it receives a new floor and a brand new paint job incorporating the familiar blue and orange colors synonymous with Bucknell. The facility that has played host to three Patriot League Indoor Track and Field Championships last underwent a renovation in 1995.

The main floor of the fieldhouse includes a 200-meter track; courts for basketball, tennis and volleyball; and facilities for field events. The two-and-one-half acre building also includes six racquetball/handball courts, three squash courts, an erg room, a climbing wall, a dance studio and aerobics room, locker rooms, saunas, athletic training areas, a classroom, offices, two lounges and the Bucknell Athletics Hall of Fame.

The painting is scheduled to be completed the final week of June, while the flooring project is slated to begin July 12. Photo galleries following the progress of the project will be posted regularly below.
