Bucknell Places Three on All-Patriot League Football Team

Nov. 20, 2007

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Three members of the Bucknell football team earned All-Patriot League recognition on Tuesday, including first-team selections Josh Eden (State College, Pa./State College) and A.J. Kizekai (Pawtucket, R.I./Blair Academy (N.J.)). Eden and Kizekai were the only two sophomores to make the 27-man first team, the rest were all at least in their junior year. Also honored was senior offensive lineman Chad Glasser (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park), a second-team pick.

Eden, Kizekai and Glasser all made the all-league team for the first time. Eden was one of four first-team defensive linemen, while Kizakai was picked as the first-team return specialist, a new position added to the all-star squad this year.

Eden started all 11 games at defensive end for the second year in a row, and he finished with a career-high 53 tackles. He ranked fourth in the Patriot League in sacks (4.5) and fifth in tackles for loss (11). Eden had a career-high nine tackles against both Holy Cross and Lehigh in Patriot League play this season.

Kizekai evolved into one of the Patriot League's most dangerous kickoff return men this fall. He led the league and ranked 26th in the nation with a 25.9 average. His 1,113 kickoff return yards shattered both Bucknell and Patriot League records, and his 92-yard return for a touchdown at Colgate was the seventh-longest in school history.

A.J. Kizekai

Kizekai was a big-play threat in more than just special teams play. He became the first Bison since 1980 to lead the team in both rushing and receiving, and he became the first player in school history to score three touchdowns of 80 yards or longer. He also had an 80-yard rush against Holy Cross and an 82-yard touchdown reception in a season-ending victory over Fordham.

In that win at Fordham, Kizekai broke the school record for all-purpose yards in a season with 1,908. That broke Ken Jenkins' mark of 1,884, set in 1980.

Glasser's second-team selection rewards an outstanding career marked by consistency and reliability. He played in every one of Bucknell's 44 games over the last four years, including 30 straight starts at left tackle. In addition to helping pave the way for Bucknell's vaunted rushing attack, Glasser was also the team's everyday long-snapper all four years, and he handled that often-overlooked task flawlessly.

Chad Glasser

Bucknell finished the 2007 season with a record of 3-8 overall, 1-5 in the Patriot League. After defeating Duquesne on opening night and Marist in the fifth game of the season, the Bison finished on a high note with a 38-24 upset of conference champion Fordham on Saturday. The Bison will graduate only seven of the 22 starters from that Fordham victory, five on offense and two on defense.
