LEWISBURG, Pa. - In posting two top-4 finishes this week to help the Bucknell women's golf team close out its most successful fall season in program history, junior Amy Loughney (Macungie, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) has been named the Choice Hotels Big South Women's Golfer of the Week. The award comes just two weeks after teammate Teri Schlang (Albany, N.Y./Stratton Mountain School) became the first Bucknell player ever to earn the honor.

It was a busy week for the Bison, who spent Fall Break first at the Rutgers Invitational last Friday and Saturday, then at the Richmond Spider Invitational on Monday and Tuesday.

At Rutgers, the Bison were coming off their first-ever team tournament title, a one-shot victory over Lehigh at the Bison Fall Classic. This time, it was Bucknell that came up just a single stroke short, finishing second to Columbia by one. Individually, Loughney also had a near miss. She carded rounds of 78 and 76 and finished second, just one shot behind winner Lauren Huhnerkoch of Rutgers.

The final round of the Spider Invitational was played in a driving rain, but the Bison produced an outstanding team score of 323 given the weather conditions, and they vaulted all the way from seventh at the start of the day to third place, behind only Campbell and Virginia.

Loughney was one of only five players in the field of 69 to post two rounds in the 70s. She carded a pair of 79s and finished in a tie for fourth place, seven shots behind medalist Belen Diaz Cisneros of Campbell.

Loughney, an All-Big South performer in 2005, finished with a team-best 79.6 average this fall. She placed in the top10 in three of the team's five tournaments.
