Frick, Pavlovich Named to UMBC All-Tournament Team

March 12, 2007

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Bucknell's Kristin Frick (West Chester, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) and Mary Pavlovich (Johnstown, Pa./Richland) were named to the UMBC Dawg Pound All-Tournament Team following their performances this past weekend for the Bison softball squad. The duo combined for 10 hits and 10 RBI in five games.

Frick, a sophomore infielder who also saw some time at designated player Sunday, was 5-for-16 with five runs batted in and one run over the weekend. She had at least one hit in four games, including a two-hit, two-RBI performance against UMBC Saturday.

Kristin Frick was named to the UMBC All-Tournament Team.

Frick saw her batting average rise from .182 to .259 after her solid performance. In fact, she had just two hits in the season's first eight games.

Pavlovich, who is second on the team with 10 RBIs, was 5-for-15 with five RBIs and one run scored over the weekend. She posted a two-hit game opposite Saint Francis (Pa.) and helped the Bison to their lone win of the tournament with three RBIs in a 5-4 victory over host UMBC.

The third baseman is fourth on the squad in hitting with a .310 average as a rookie. Her 13 hits are tied for third on the team as are her three doubles. With four extra base hits, she is second on the team in that category to Lauren Litts (East Stroudsburg, Pa./East Stroudsburg).

Bucknell went 1-4 at the UMBC Dawg Pound Tournament, but finished second in the four-team field by virtue of the 5-4 victory over UMBC in the semifinals of the tournament portion of play.

The Bison, who are 3-10 this year, will play six games at the Rebel Spring Games in Kissimmee, Fla., this week. Play begins Tuesday afternoon with contests against Mississippi Valley State and Butler.
